Costs and Financial Support

Financing Access to Care at African Sight Center

Specialists Dedicated to Your Eye Health

A Fair, Balanced and Accessible Model

At African Sight Center (ASC), access to eye care is based on a simple and fair approach: everyone contributes according to their means, so that everyone can receive the care they need. In a region where needs are considerable and resources are often limited, this model helps ensure both high-quality care and access to treatment for as many people as possible.

Three Levels of Care Tailored to Each Patient’s Situation

At ASC, the cost of care is organized around three patient categories, defined in a practical and pragmatic way:

Patients Seeking Advanced Medical Expertise

Some patients choose ASC for the quality and advanced nature of its medical care. Their financial contribution fully supports the operation of the center.

Patients Covered by Health Insurance or a Mutual Health Plan

Patients covered by a mutual health plan or insurance may receive partial or full coverage for their care. ASC assists them with the necessary procedures to facilitate reimbursement and minimize out-of-pocket expenses.

Patients with Low or Very Low Incomes

For patients with limited financial resources, an appropriate contribution is offered. As a non-profit clinic, ASC pools part of its revenue to help fund care for the most vulnerable populations. When necessary, partial or full financial assistance may be provided to ensure access to essential care, with the support of the clinic’s association, ADMS.

Looking Further Ahead, Together

A solidarity-based model that enables everyone to access high-quality care, today and in the years to come.

A Solidarity-Based Model Dedicated to Eye Health

Because access to eye care should never depend on financial resources, ASC has developed a model that combines solidarity, financial sustainability, and collective commitment.

A Fundamental Principle: Solidarity Between Patients

ASC’s model is based on a simple and effective principle:
contributions from patients who can afford to pay help fund care for those who are less fortunate. This internal solidarity system is at the heart of the center’s operations and helps ensure that patients do not have to forgo care for financial reasons.

The Essential Support of Partners and Donors

In addition to this model, ASC receives support from external partners and donors.

Their contributions help fund the acquisition of medical equipment and the training of local teams. In the long term, the goal is to develop a center capable of operating independently while maintaining the capacity to provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable patients.

An Organization Focused on Balance and Sustainability

ASC’s financial model aims to strike a balance between:

  • revenue generated by patient care,
  • the center’s operating costs,
  • and the ability to fund a significant volume of subsidized care.

This balance not only ensures the continuity of medical services, but also makes it possible to maintain a dedicated “social fund” to support patients with the greatest financial needs.

Providing Care Without Exclusion

Beyond the financial mechanisms, ASC’s philosophy is clear:
to give everyone, regardless of their financial means, the opportunity to access high-quality care.

Because preserving sight means preserving dignity, independence and the future, ASC is committed every day to ensuring that cost never becomes a barrier to eye care.
